British Transport Police have become increasingly concerned about a new arrival to Exeter’s graffiti scene who has been carving out a name as a phenomenally quick and elusive artist.
Going by the tag Plots, he has attracted attention for the swiftness and quality of his work.
The Exeter scene has been apparently dormant for some time, with established members becoming disillusioned with newer groups apparently showing no respect for their work, particularly at the much-used Chrome Wall. Talking to the IAmLucky Collective, one well-known artist said, “Plots! He can throw up in five minutes better than a piece that takes me hours!”
A British Transport Police (BTP) campaign to catch night-time graffiti artists in the city, Operation Silverback, has proved effective only in apprehending a university student -- who was convicted of graffiti offences in February.
A spokesperson for CrossCountry Trains said, “This act shows a complete disregard for private property. It is obbviously a premeditated action. We support everything BTP are doing to deter this from happening”
The elusive Plots, meanwhile, remains underground, able to work wherever s/he likes -- even under the noses of the BTP in the city’s train yards.
